Description

This is a late 17th-century cottage located on The Green in Rampton. It has 20th-century additions to the rear. The cottage is timber framed, with rendered and plaster walls and weatherboard cladding, set on a rendered plinth. It has a steeply pitched roof covered with corrugated iron over thatch, and a grey gault brick ridge stack. The original plan consists of a single range with a lobby entry. The cottage has two storeys. There is one casement window at the first floor level, and three 20th-century casement windows at ground floor level, positioned on either side of the front doorway. The interior features sealed inglenook hearths; the timber framing is not exposed, but the partition walls remain in their original locations. Cambridge Record Office holds original plans, reference MS Plans 177(R).
