Description

This listing covers three properties at 15, 16, and 17, The Green, in Rampton. No. 15 is a mid-17th century timber-framed cottage, now rendered with plaster and featuring a steeply pitched roof covered in corrugated iron. It has an original gault brick ridge stack with grouped shafts on a square base. The left-hand gable end was rebuilt in the early 18th century using narrow red and yellow brick, with tumbled brickwork to the parapet and a stack of the same date. Originally, this cottage formed part of a three-bay dwelling with a crosswing. The plan is of two bays. It has one storey and an attic, and includes one dormer window. Two casement windows are located on either side of the doorway. No. 17, which adjoins No. 15, was extensively altered and rebuilt around 1983. The chimney stack, which features diagonally set grouped shafts and is shared with No. 15, is the sole reason for No. 17 being included in the listing.
