Description

Two cottages, originally four, stand on the east side of Guilden Morden High Street, at numbers 71 and 77. Dating largely to the 17th century, with a 19th-century addition and alterations, and some 20th-century renovation, the cottages are timber-framed with roughcast rendering. A brick plinth runs along the base. The roof is covered in a mix of asbestos tiles and pantiles, with gable end stacks to the left and right, and a square ridge stack featuring rebuilt upper courses. The cottages are two storeys and were originally planned with three units, later extended by one bay to the south and converted into four separate cottages. A boarded door is located on the left-hand side, and a 20th-century glazed door is on the right. The ground floor features three horizontal sliding sash windows, and one casement window. Four horizontal sliding sash windows are on the first floor.
