Description

Lantern Cottage is a cottage that was originally a barn, dating from the late 17th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions. The building is timber framed and weather boarded, featuring thatched and pantiled roofs, along with a 20th-century ridge stack. It is a single storey structure with a lower range to the east. The cottage has double glazed entrance doors and four ground floor windows of various sizes. Inside, the original barn consists of five bays and has an angle strut side purlin roof, along with an inserted chimney and room partitions. Historically, it was used as the village slaughterhouse.
