Description

No. 1 Cage Lane is an early 18th century cottage that features a timber frame with later brick infill and a rendered exterior. The gable ends are partially weatherboarded. The cottage has a three-unit plan and a thatched roof, which includes a ridge and an end stack on the east side. It stands two storeys tall, with three modern casement windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The entrance is located in the central bay and is accessed through a modern thatched porch. Inside, there is a side purlin roof supported by Queen strut roof trusses.
