3, The Lanes is a late 18th century cottage located on the south side of The Lanes in Houghton. It is a single-storey building with an attic. The walls are of colour-washed brick, and the roof is a mansard design, partially covered with plain tiles. A central chimney stack is present. The building features a dentil eaves cornice and a plank front door.
