Description

Nos 9 and 10 on The Avenue in Godmanchester date from around 1800 and are constructed of gault brick. The building is divided into two sections. On the left, No 9 is two storeys high with one window featuring sashes and glazing bars, topped by a pantiled roof. On the right, there is one storey and an attic, with windows that also have sashes and glazing bars, along with one canted bay. The entrance includes two four-panel doors. The roof is an old tile mansard style, featuring two full sash dormers and a central brick stack. There is a rear wing, and it is possible that the building served as a toll-house on the Causeway.
