Description
No. 52 on Main Road is a house dating from around 1860. It is constructed of local brick and has a roughcast rendered finish. The roof is plain tiled and features a ridge stack with grouped shafts. The gable ends have plain bargeboarding. The house is two storeys high and the southwest elevation has two linked gables, each containing one hung sash window with margin lights and diamond-pattern glazing bars. There is a central round-headed arch that leads to a small casement window. Flanking the central doorway are two similar hung sash windows. The original doorcase features a panelled door and is topped by a gabled trellis porch.
On the west elevation, there is one small horizontal sliding sash window and two hung sashes set in round-headed arches, all with glazing bars similar to those on the southwest elevation. Additionally, there is a Venetian window with a pointed arch in the centre light at ground floor level.
