Description
The Malt House is a former malt-house built in 1853, as indicated by the stone inscription "ERECTED 1853 H.A.C." on the west gable end. The building features a rear range from the early 19th century, constructed of local gault brick and topped with a modern shallow-pitched tile roof. It stands two storeys high and has three recessed hung sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath cambered arches. On either side of the doorway, there are two later sash windows with central glazing bars. The entrance is framed by a doorcase with pilasters, a plain entablature, and a dentilled cornice, leading to a panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above. The wall has been repaired and includes a later casement window at the west end. The early 19th-century rear range is also made of brick and features a slate roof with a red brick end stack.
