Description

This is an early to mid-18th century house located on Main Road, Kimbolton, Stonely. Originally named Fox Close, it features a lobby entry plan. The house is constructed of local brick, with parts of the exterior rendered in roughcast. The roof is covered with plain tiles. There are two chimney stacks: one located on the ridge and another at one end, both built of local red brick. The house is two storeys high and has four horizontal sliding sash windows with glazing bars, their tops flush with the eaves. Three of the ground-floor windows and the front door have segmental arches above them. In 1919, additions were made to the rear of the house, built of brick with a plain tiled roof.

Inside, the central room contains a late 18th-century pine fireplace with pilasters, ramped volutes, a carved frieze, and a dentil cornice. An east ground floor room has a 19th-century papier mache fireplace with Rococo decoration to its frieze and a dentil cornice. Several ground floor rooms retain chamfered main beams and joists.
