Description
The Bedford Street Works, a corn mill of Payne and Company Limited, was built around 1890 and is designed in a modified Gothic style. The building has an irregular plan and consists of one to six storeys, featuring various later additions and alterations. A central campanile with a pyramidical roof is a prominent feature. The structure is constructed from yellow stock brick, accented with red brick and stone dressings, and displays diaper work on the campanile. The windows are arched, with some in a Romanesque style and others featuring pointed arches and plate tracery. The main entrance has a segmental-arched moulded head. The building is listed for its curiosity value.
