Description
Crusader Works is a building that was likely a cotton spinning mill, now serving as a works. It dates from the mid-19th century and has been altered over time. The structure is made of red brick with some sandstone dressings, and the roof is not visible. It has a very long rectangular shape that runs parallel to the street.
The building features a six-storey section with 28 windows, along with a three-storey continuation with four windows at the west end. There are panelled corner pilasters with stone cornices, and a parapet with stone coping. The centre section, which has eight windows, slightly projects forward. The windows are vertical-rectangular with raised sills and flat-arched heads; those in the west part are mostly four-pane sashes, while the others have altered glazing. There is an inserted doorway in the second bay of the centre, and round-headed doorways in the first and fourth bays of the right-hand portion, with the rightmost doorway altered to function as a window.
