Description
3 Stocks Green is a house built in the late 18th century, with some alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubblestone with quoins, and features a red brick left gable end wall. The roof is made of Collyweston slate and has brick stacks at the ends. The house has a central staircase plan and a rear outshut with a catslide roof. It is a single storey with an attic. On the front, there are 8/8 unhorned sash windows on either side of a central panelled door with an overlight, all featuring wooden lintels. There are also two flat-roofed dormers with 4/8 sashes, and some windows still retain crown glass.
Inside, the central staircase rises between the walls, and there is another boxed-in stair within the left room, which has a stone-flagged floor. The house contains 19th-century fireplaces. This small house has seen little alteration and retains many interior features from its period, contributing to a notable group of historic buildings around Stocks Green.
