Description

The Manor House is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dated 1727 as indicated by a plaque in the west gable, with alterations circa 1889. It is constructed of dressed limestone rubble with freestone and ashlar dressings, and has a Collyweston stone slated roof with parapet gables and brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics, and presents a symmetrical five-bay facade. A C19 open trellised porch has an original C18 pedimented hood, a six-panelled bolection moulded door, and a rectangular fanlight with vertical glazing bars. There are also two C19 canted bay windows with coped parapets, four first floor recessed four-paned hung sash windows with dropped keystones to moulded stone architraves, and three dormer windows on the southern elevation. Inside, the house features a panelled staircase hall with a moulded cornice and an open string staircase. A fire insurance plaque is visible on the main elevation.
