Description
The Cottage is a house built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone and features quoins, plain gables, and end ridge stacks, with the stack at the northeast end made of ashlar and having a moulded cap. The roof is covered with Welsh slates and stone slates. The building has two storeys and two bays, with a catslide roof on the rear elevation.
The front of the house has tall 19th-century two-light chamfered mullioned windows with casements. There is a central doorway that has a quoined surround, a heavy lintel, and a six-panelled door. On the rear elevation, there is a flush mullioned and transomed window from the 18th century.
