Description
Valerian Cottage and the attached cottages to the west are a pair of cottages dating from the early 18th century. They are built from coursed rubble gritstone and feature quoins, plain gables, and a single stone ridge stack at the west end, topped with a concrete tiled roof. The cottages are two storeys high and consist of two bays, with almost flush mullioned windows that have two lights, some of which are fitted with 19th and 20th-century casements, including some with glazing bars. There are two doorways: the original doorway has a chamfered quoined surround and a massive lintel, while the addition at the west end from the 19th century features a massive stone surround. The property is enclosed by a low stone boundary wall that includes two sets of plain gate posts and flat copings.
