Description

8 The Pavement, formerly known as the George Tavern, is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high with attics. It is constructed of painted gault brick and has a tiled roof. The façade features four windows with segmental heads. The early 19th-century double shop front includes pilasters that support an entablature with a projecting cornice, although the shop window has been altered. This building is included for its group value with the nearby Corn Exchange and Nos. 5 to 10 (consecutive) and No. 12.
