Description
7 The Pavement is a building dating from around 1720. It has three storeys with attics and is constructed of brown brick with red brick dressings. Notable features include a moulded band between the first and second storeys and an enriched cornice with modillions at the eaves. The windows have glazing bars, and there are two flat-topped dormers also featuring glazing bars. The building has a modern shop front. Inside the passageway on the right, there is a reset early 16th-century beam carved with the Shield of Arms of Ramsey Abbey, flanked by an ox and a sheep, along with a crown and rose sprig and the name W Wesbyche. At the second floor level, there is moulded brick in the shape of a bell. This building is part of a group that includes the Corn Exchange and Nos. 5 to 10 and No. 12.
