Description
Nos. 5 and 5A on Lynn Road is a late 18th century or early 19th century corner shop and house. It is constructed of local brown brick and features a slate roof with a rear stack. The building is L-shaped, standing three storeys tall on Lynn Road and two storeys on Bedford Street. The wing facing Bedford Street has been reroofed and includes two dormer windows.
The façade features one blind window and three hung sash windows with glazing bars, all recessed in cambered gauged brick arches with stone cills at the first floor. The ground floor has two four-paned hung sash windows and two entrances, both in round-headed brick arches; one door is half-glazed and both are original. The shop front on Lynn Road consists of three bays, with two casement windows and one blind window on the first and second floors. There are also good late 19th century shop windows and a late 19th century inserted door to the right, which has rectangular fanlights.
