Description
The Rutland Arms is a late 18th century inn located on Lynn Road in Wisbech. It is built from local brown brick and features a low pitched slate roof with end stacks. The building has three storeys and four bays. On the second floor, there are four four-paned hung sash windows, while the first floor has two twelve-paned hung sash windows and two painted blind windows set in cambered gauged brick arches. The ground floor is finished in stucco and includes one two-light and two three-light hung sash windows with glazing bars. The entrance is positioned to the right of the centre, framed by plain architraved doorcases. An ornamental wrought iron bracket supports a hanging sign. The Rutland Arms is documented in the Wisbech and Fenland Museum's photographic collection from 1853, and is referenced in A.A. Oldham's book "Inns and Taverns of Wisbech."
