Description
No. 6 South Brink is a mid-18th century house located in Wisbech. It is constructed of local brown brick and features hipped slate roofs with a stack on the west side. The building has three storeys and a basement, with five bays across its façade. A parapet with stone copings crowns the structure.
On the second floor, there are five six-paned hung sash windows set in cambered, gauged red brick arches with stone cills. The first floor and ground floor also have five similar twelve-paned windows. A brick band runs along the first floor. The entrance is marked by a broken triangular pedimented wooden doorcase supported by fluted Doric columns, leading to a six-panelled door topped with a round-headed fanlight. The basement forecourt is enclosed by railings.
Inside, the house contains mid to late 18th century doors and doorcases, panelled window shutters, and two original chimney pieces from the late 18th century. The property is also documented in photographs and prints from the 18th and 19th centuries by W. & F. Mus.
