Description
Lloyds Bank is a building constructed between 1926 and 1928 in the Baroque revival style, designed by architects F.B. Ward and H. Munro Cautley. It features red brick with limestone dressings and stands two storeys tall with five bays, including a recessed bay to the east and an entrance to the upper floor. The façade is divided by giant Ionic brick pilasters. It has a panelled parapet with stone copings, a deep stone-capped plinth, and a band. The first floor has five twelve-paned hung sash windows with aprons, while the ground floor has four eighteen-paned hung sash windows, all with gauged brick arches and stone key blocks. The doorcase is particularly impressive, made of limestone with a square head, bolection moulding, panelled pilasters, and console brackets that support an entablature with a segmental pediment, cartouche, and large sculptural figures. The entrance features double, three-panelled doors.
