Description
The Midland Bank, built in 1921, is a bank designed by architects Woodfall and Eccles. It is located on a corner site with the main entrance facing the corner. The building is constructed from Mansfield sandstone and features a south-facing facade that is one storey high and divided into three bays. The facade has a balustraded, panelled parapet and a deep moulded cornice with modillions. Quarter and half-columns separate the bays, with railings spanning the recesses. The windows are set in moulded round-headed arches that include key blocks. The corners of the building are accentuated with pilastered quoins. The main entrance is flanked by columns and topped with a triangular pediment and a shaped, panelled parapet. The doorway has a round arch with a fanlight above and double panelled doors. The building is included for its group value.
