Description
Nos. 2 and 4 Briggate East is a cottage with a shop at the gable end, dating from around 1770. It has a timber-framed front wall that is rendered, with brick repairs or rebuilds on the rear and end walls. The building features a steeply pitched roof, now covered with slates, and has tumbled gable ends along with a ridge stack. The layout consists of three bays with a lobby entry plan. There are two 19th-century gable dormers and two flush frame, four-pane hung sashes on either side of the doorway leading to the lobby entry. Inside, the joists are exposed and similar to those found in No. 1, 3 Briggate West, which is also dated 1770.
