WHARF ROAD Fobbing Ship Cottages (Nos 1 and 3)

2. C15 or earlier house, now a group of cottages. Timber-framed and plastered with red plain tile gambrel roof. Rectangular plan, originally 4 bays, extended by the addition of one bay at each end in C18. One storey and attics. Five window range modern casements. Four gabled dormers. Chimney stacks rendered and modern extensions at rear. C16 inserted first floor in central bays, and roof raised. Roof rebuilt in C18. Central chimney is C16. One floor joist has carved date "1564".
