Paynes Cottages, Nos 1 and 2, are a pair of late 17th-century cottages located on the west side of High Road, Fobbing. The cottages are timber-framed and have been clad in weatherboarding, with a red plain tile roof. They are two storeys high with a two-window front, featuring modern casement windows. A central chimney stack is constructed of red brick.
