Description

Nos 26 and 28 High Street comprise two cottages situated on the north side of the street. No 28 is a cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is built of coursed stone rubble with a thatched roof featuring coped gable ends. The cottage has one storey and an attic, with two small gabled dormers. It has two windows, a 4-light casement window from the 19th century, a sash window, and a central modern door. Brick chimney stacks are located at each end. No 26 adjoins it to the east and is an early 19th-century cottage built of coursed stone rubble with a lower-pitched Collyweston stone roof with gabled ends. It has two storeys and one window range, featuring an early 19th-century 3-light casement window and a plank door. A brick chimney stack is at one end. No 26 is included in the listing for group value.
