Description
Nos 1 and 3 Chapel Lane are two cottages, possibly with No 1 being a former outbuilding, as indicated by signs of heightening and a blocked triangular ventilator in the south gable end. They date from the late 18th century or early 19th century and are constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The cottages have a Collyweston stone slate roof, with brick ridge and end stacks. They are two storeys tall and single-fronted, with doors that open inward. On the ground floor, there are 6/6 sash windows, and No 1 also features a small window to the right of the door. The first floor has 2-light casement windows, all equipped with cills and beneath lintels that have flush keystones. There are one-storey additions to both the left and right, and the fenestration is not entirely symmetrical. These cottages are included for their group value.
