Description
Southey Lodge Dovecote is a dovecote dated 1797, constructed from coursed rubblestone and topped with a 20th-century concrete tile roof. It has a rectangular plan and is a high single storey building. The southern side features a doorway with a plaque above it inscribed with "FS 1797," and there is a window opening in the right gable.
Inside, the dovecote contains a well-preserved set of brick boxes with stone perches that surround all four sides, along with support for a ladder in the roof. This structure is a fine example of a late 18th-century dovecote that has seen little alteration and retains its date plaque.
