Description
The Old Rectory is a 14th-century hall house that features later floor insertions and gabled crosswings. It is constructed from coursed stone rubble and has a steeply pitched Collyweston roof. The building is H-shaped in plan, with 18th-century infill between the wings, which includes a moulded parapet and a central break, as well as a wide single-storey porch that also has a central break. The structure stands two storeys high with an attic and has a five-window range. The wings contain sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, framed by moulded architraves with keyblocks, while the upper floors have small modern sashes and French doors leading to a balcony over the porch. There are two hipped dormers and ashlar chimney stacks with cornices located on the ridge and over the gables. The north side features two tall 19th-century Gothic windows and a 13th-century style gabled porch made of ashlar, with a moulded pointed arch. On the east side, there is an early 19th-century ashlar bow window. Inside, the arch-braced roof with cusped wind braces is visible in the attic, and the interior is predominantly from the 18th and 19th centuries.
