Description
The stables immediately east of The Roost date from the 18th century. This long range is constructed from coursed stone rubble and features a steeply pitched corrugated iron roof with coped end gables. The stables include lofts above and have two stable doors on the south side, along with two ventilation lunettes that have keyblocks and diaper pattern stone infill. On the north side, there are three similar ventilation lunettes, a pedimented tablet inscribed "Newport Farm MDCCLXX," and two arched openings at the base that allow a stream to flow to a pond in front. At the adjoining southeast end, there is a single-storey range of stables with a three-bay arcaded front, which includes keyblocks, imposts, and stable doors, topped with a Collyweston stone roof.
