Description
Nos 8 and 10 on George Street West are a pair of mid-19th century houses located on a corner site. They are built from Luton grey bricks and topped with Welsh slate roofs, standing two storeys high. No 8 features stucco quoins and has three first-floor sash windows set within architrave surrounds. The ground floor includes two sash windows with cornices on consoles, flanking a recessed door that has panelled reveals and a cornice on consoles.
No 10 is distinguished by an angled corner bay, typical of Luton, and has two bays facing George Street West and three bays facing Stuart Street. The first-floor sash windows are set in shouldered stucco surrounds. The ground floor has a continuous stucco band at window head level, adorned with decorated recessed panels. Windows and doorways are flanked by plain pilasters. The main entrance doorway at the southeast corner and the central door on the southwest elevation both feature stucco Jacobean curly pediments and leaded fanlights.
