Description

3, George Street West is an 1860s town house with a two-storey neo-classical facade and a basement. The building is plaster-rendered with moulded detail and has a slate roof. The front of the house features a bracketed eaves cornice and projecting plaster quoins, alternating between plain and those decorated with flowers. Five first-floor sash windows have glazing bars and are topped with cornices resting on consoles and pilasters exhibiting tendril decoration. A plaster cill band frames a simple guilloche design. The two ground-floor sash windows are flanked by a doorway with a plain fanlight, narrow side lights, decorated Corinthian pilasters, an entablature, and a cornice. The doorway is approached by five steps with plain side walls. The side elevation has two plain windows on each floor, mirroring the ground-floor front. A semi-circular fanlight is located at the apex of the gable end. Modern extensions have been added to the rear of the property.
