Description

1, 2 and 3 The Maltings are two houses with origins in the 18th century, which were reworked in the early and mid-19th century. They are constructed of red brick, with some render on the eastern end. The building has a four-bay plan and stands two storeys high, with the eastern bay featuring a carriage entrance and a room above on the first floor.

On the right-hand side of the first floor, there is a small-paned sash window from the 18th century, and to the left, there is a two-storey canted bay. The left-hand side has two sash windows with glazing bars on both the ground and first floors; the ground floor windows are early 19th century, while the first-floor windows are from a later period. All four windows have gauged brick flat arches above them. Between the two ground floor windows, there is a blocked doorway with a similar brick arch.

In the center of the building, there is a 19th-century six-panel door set in a moulded surround, topped with a moulded cornice hood supported by brackets that act as capitals for plain pilasters. The carriage entrance features double wooden gates with decorative cast iron grilles in the upper part.
