Description
19 and 21 High Street are two houses dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. They feature substantial timber-framed construction with colourwashed roughcast render and a steeply pitched concrete tile roof. The buildings have a total of three rooms and are two storeys high. The first floor was originally jettied but has been underbuilt in brick, with other parts of the frame also rebuilt in brick. The first floor includes one 19th-century three-light casement window and two 20th-century four-light casement windows. On the ground floor, No. 19 has two small shop windows flanking a central part-glazed door with a gabled bracketed hood, while No. 21 features a canted double-fronted 19th-century shop window, with a part-glazed door recessed in the centre. Inside, No. 19 retains some early panelling on the first floor, and No. 21 has some moulded ceiling beams.
