Description
No. 8 High Street is a house with a shop on the ground floor, dating from the 18th century and likely incorporating an earlier structure, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features timber framed construction, with colourwashed roughcast render on the east elevation and brick facing on the west and front, which is also colourwashed. The roof is covered with 20th-century tiles.
The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range. On the ground floor, there are two 19th-century shop bay windows with simply moulded cornices, flanking a central part-glazed door that is set beneath a gabled hood supported by cut brackets. The first floor has two sash windows with glazing bars on either side of a central blind window, and there is a brick band at the first floor level.
