Description
This is a barn located about 40 metres north of Cart's Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a brick plinth, topped with a corrugated iron sheet roof that has gabled ends. The barn has three bays, with the central bay containing a large cart entrance at the front and a lean-to projecting at the back. The southeast front has the cart entrance in the centre, which is open and lacks doors, flanked by small doorways on either side that have plank doors. At the rear, the central bay projects and has a catslide roof, with brick infilling to the exposed timber frame and a doorway to the left. Inside, there are jowled posts and tie-beams with curved braces. The high collar features clasped purlins, while the lower purlins are tenoned to the principals, supported by short struts to the tie-beam below. The common rafter couples do not have a ridgepiece. The wall posts, mid rail, studs, and tension braces are complete, except at the ends and below the mid-rail at the front.
