Description
The Croft is a house that underwent mid to late 18th century alterations, originally built in the 18th century with an adjoining earlier block, possibly from the 17th century. Both sections were likely originally timber framed. The main block has been partly rebuilt in brick laid in header bond, featuring a front made of vitrified bricks with red brick dressings. The right-hand block is finished with colourwashed roughcast render and has 20th-century tile roofs.
The building is arranged in an L-plan, with the main block consisting of two storeys and attics, while the right-hand block has one storey and attics. On the ground floor of the main block, there are two 3-light windows in enlarged openings with rendered heads. The first floor features three 2-light leaded casements with gauged brick heads, and there is a blocked central doorway. A flush red brick band runs along the first floor, topped by a red brick ovolo eaves cornice. An integral red brick stack is located at the left-hand gable end. The right-hand gabled block has two 2-light leaded casements on each floor, with the ground floor window being a 20th-century replacement.
