Description

The screen and gates to Number 28, known as Gates House, are located on the north side of Church Street. The property is separated from the road by a small garden enclosed by a fine wrought iron grille featuring elaborately designed central double gates. This grille is supported by a pair of tall brick piers that have moulded stone bases and cornices. On top of these piers are a pair of ornate stone vases. The piers and grille were originally designed by Chambers for Houghton House, from which they were removed.
