Description
The gates and screens enclosing the forecourt to the front elevation of Henlow Grange were erected in 1911 by the Gurney family, who owned Henlow Grange at the time. The structure features stone-coped red brick piers and low walls that display a chequerwork pattern made with flared headers. The entrance includes wrought iron gates and railings, standing approximately 4 metres tall at their highest point. The piers are topped with a variety of stone urns. Most of the railings are plain, although several longer stretches include narrow ornamental panels. The wrought iron gates have decorative side panels and cresting, with the crest design featuring the letter G and the date MCMXI. The double gates are relatively simple, with an arrowhead dograil at the base and an ornamental horizontal band. This structure is included for its group value with the house.
