Description
The presbytery adjacent to the Catholic Church of St. Francis is a building dating from 1884, designed by S J Nicholl for Mrs. Lyne-Stephens of Thetford, Norfolk. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features a clay tile roof with decorative ridge cresting. The building has a two-room plan and stands two storeys high with attics.
On the left side, there is a gabled bay that is two storeys and has attics, partly covered with fishscale tiles, while the gable is rendered. The ground and first floors of this bay have triple sash windows, and the attic has a single sash window. The right side features paired sash windows on the first floor, with a plaque above that reads "St George for England." The right attic includes a hipped dormer with a sash window. The attic windows and the upper part of the first-floor windows have glazing bars.
A six-panel door is located on the right side, flanked by single lights and topped with a decorative carved panel depicting a shield with the St. George cross. In the left corner of the house, there is a niche that contains a statue of St. George.
