Description

The manse and integral school house, located on High Street in Ridgemont, was built around 1835. It is constructed of red brick with biscuit-colored headers and features a slate hipped roof with deep eaves, along with lead rolls at the hips and ridge. The building has a double depth plan, with the manse on the right side consisting of two front rooms and a central entrance, while the school house on the left has an entrance to the left of one front room.

The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay front for the manse, which has 19th-century 16-pane sash windows, flat rubbed brick arches, and a central doorway that includes a pilastered doorcase, a rectangular overlight, a small canopy, and a glazed and panelled door. The one-bay school house on the left features a similar doorway and door, but without an overlight, and has tripartite sashes with 16 panes flanked by 4-pane sidelights, also with rubbed flat brick arches. At the rear, there are 19th-century two-light casements with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected. According to Kelly's Directory of 1914, the "Minister's residence" was claimed to have been built in 1811, which is the date inscribed on the front of the nearby Baptist Chapel.
