Description

This is an 18th-century cottage located on New Road, Great Barford. The building is timber framed with infill panels of colour-washed brick, colour-washed plaster, colour-washed roughcast, and a red brick facing on the southwest gable end. It has a thatched roof. The cottage follows a three-bay plan, with the southwest bay projecting forward and featuring a higher roofline. It is a single storey with attics. The northwest elevation retains one two-light horizontal sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor, as well as one dormer. Other windows and the front door are 20th-century replacements. Red brick stacks are positioned on the ridge and the southwest gable end. A one-storey red brick and thatched addition extends at a right angle from the rear.
