Description
76 and 78 High Street are two houses that were previously further subdivided, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. They feature a colour-washed rough cast exterior over a timber frame and brick construction, topped with old clay tile roofs. The main block is L-shaped, consisting of two storeys, with a projecting wing that has one storey and attics. The main block has a four-panel door set in a moulded surround with a flat hood, flanked by two sash windows with glazing bars. On the first floor, there are two 2-light horizontal sashes with glazing bars. Red brick stacks are present at the ridge and gable ends. The northeast link block is from the late 18th century. The projecting wing was converted from a timber-framed barn and features a 20th-century door and casements, along with two gabled dormers. There are lean-to additions at the rear and northeast elevations.
