Description
Nos. 68 and 70 High Street is a house dating from the late 17th century. It features colour washed rough cast over a timber frame and brick, with a roof made of both old and new clay tiles. The building has an L-plan shape with additions and consists of one storey and attics. The main block has two sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, flanking a six-fielded panel door, which has a top pair of glazed panels and is set within a moulded surround topped with a flat hood supported by consoles. There are two gabled dormers, each with sash windows that also have glazing bars. The house includes one red brick external gable end stack and one red brick multiple ridge stack. The cross-wing gable end features an early to mid-19th century bay window. There are various 19th and 20th century additions to all elevations.
