Description
Eaton Tithe Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1800 by R Salmon for Francis, the 5th Duke of Bedford, who died in 1802. The building features colour washed stucco over brick and has a hipped slate roof. It has an octagonal plan and is two storeys high, with a one-storey projecting back wing. Most elevations have three-light wood mullion casement windows. The southeast elevation includes an open porch supported by square Tuscan piers, with a 20th-century door and a dummy window above it. The south elevation has a French window, while the rear wing has a 20th-century replacement window. The roof has a gabled roof light at the center, flanked by two double-ridge stacks. This farmhouse is noted in T Batchelor's "General View of the Agriculture of the County of Bedford," published in 1808.
