Description
Chawston Manor House is a 17th-century house featuring colour washed plaster over a timber frame, with some exposed timbering on the south side. It has an old clay tile roof and is designed in an L-plan over two storeys.
On the south elevation, the left-hand wing includes one 2-light and one 5-light casement window on the ground floor, and two 2-light horizontal sash windows on the first floor, all of which have glazing bars. The right-hand gable features a 19th-century canted bay window on the ground floor and a jettied first floor with a 3-light casement window, also with glazing bars.
The east elevation showcases three ground floor French windows with glazing bars and four first floor 2-light sash windows with glazing bars. There is a six-fielded panel door set in a moulded surround, topped with a flat hood supported by consoles. A gault brick double stack chimney is located on the north gable end. The house has one-storey additions to the west and north and is situated on a moated site.
