Description
Chestnuts Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The exterior features colour washed rough cast over significant timber framing and is topped with a clay tile roof. The building has a four-bay plan, consisting of one storey and attics, with central timbering indicating that it originally had an open hall. The windows are 20th-century casements, and there are box dormers along with a gabled porch on the south elevation. Notable architectural features include a substantial three-stage external stack on the east gable end, which has coursed limestone rubble at the lower stage and red brick above, as well as a red brick external stack on the west gable end.
