Description

Whartons Park Farmhouse is a late 16th-century timber-frame farmhouse, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and again in the mid-20th century. The structure has painted brick infill and a tile roof. It consists of three framed bays aligned north/south, with a gable end facing the road and a gable end stack to the south. The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic, which is lit by a casement window in the gable. The first floor is jettied, and the gable has bargeboards and a truncated finial. The first floor has a three-light casement window, and the ground floor features a canted oriel supported by three consoles to the sill; the entrance is located on the left return front. The timber frame is close-studded, with a mid-rail to the ground floor, three square panels high. The ground floor framing features straight tension braces to the first floor.
