Description
Wyre Court is a house that has been converted into a club. It likely dates from the late 16th century, with extensions from the late 17th century and early 19th century, along with some alterations from the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill; the painted brick addition has planted framing. It is designed in an L-shape, with the limb extending to the west containing two bays from the 16th century and three bays from the 17th century, while the limb extending to the south is from the early 19th century.
The east front has two storeys and four windows, featuring 3-light casements under segmental heads. On the ground floor, there are three windows of the same style, and to the right-hand corner, there is an entrance with a gabled wooden porch approached by steps, flanked by two small casement windows. The framing of the 16th-century portion is close-studded with a mid-rail, while the 17th-century part is square panelled with straight tension braces. Inside, the 19th-century section of the building is panelled with re-set 17th-century panelling. Additionally, there is an erroneous date of 1165 carved in relief over a window on the 16th-century part, which is a 19th-century addition.
